Chanel Lewis (pronouns: she/her/hers) believes in the power of listening, learning, dialogue, and action as tools for change. Her work and passion are fueled by a desire to live in a society and community where everyone is included and has equitable access to empathy, understanding, respect, and opportunity.
Chanel had the privilege to attend Howard University, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She continued her education at Boston University where she completed a Master of Arts in African American Studies as a merit scholar. As a result of her education and astute perceptiveness, Chanel understands the complexity of the human experience, and actively challenges processes and systems that promote inequity and exclusion.
Chanel is the Head of Diversity & Inclusion at IDEXX. In this role, she designs and develops a global strategy and cultivates a more diverse and inclusive organization. As a member of her community, Chanel serves as a board member for the Portland Parks Conservancy and YMCA of Southern Maine, and as a member of the Boys and Girls Club HR Committee.
Chanel lives in Westbrook, Maine with her amazing partner. She is an amateur photographer, avid cook, and Organizational Effectiveness nerd. A lifelong fan of Harry Potter, Chanel believes in the power of friendship, community, and love—and in particular, how those three values work together to make our communities stronger, compassionate, empathetic, respectful, and full of joy.
