Dov Sacks is a partner at Berman & Simmons in Lewiston specializing in medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury and Jones Act maritime claims. Dov successfully represented two Maine families who lost loved ones in the October 1, 2015 sinking of the SS El Faro, the worst U.S. maritime disaster in more than three decades. Dov is passionate about securing for injured New England seamen and seawomen the full scope of compensatory damages which are thankfully provided by the Jones Act but would be unavailable to land-based employees. Dov graduated with honors from Harvard College (’04) and The George Washington School of Law (’07) where he was awarded the prestigious Richard C. Lewis, Jr. Memorial Award, presented to the one student in a class of more than 500 “for extraordinary dedication to clinics, and unusual compassion and humanity toward clients and colleagues.” Prior to joining Berman & Simmons in 2014, Dov practiced for seven years in Philadelphia where he represented victims of mortgage fraud and unfair business practices, homeowners facing foreclosure, and parents fighting to preserve their parental rights.
