John recently joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as the Executive Vice President, Chief HR Officer with the mandate to build a best practice, digitally enabled HR function that can support the recent doubling of the company – now operating in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont – and partner with the business lines for future growth.
Prior to Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, John spent eight years as a senior HR transformation consultant at Deloitte and Mercer. As a senior consultant, John led client engagements with global companies that focused on optimizing the HR service delivery model including HR strategy, programs & services, governance, organizational design, talent, and technology; as well as mergers & acquisitions. Some New England clients included Baystate Health, BCBS of MA, Eastern Maine Health, Genesee & Wyoming Railroad, MaineHealth, and MFS Investment Management.
What seems like a lifetime ago to John, he started his professional career in the United States Navy for five years as a Surface Warfare Officer. He then moved into corporate HR in the financial services industry for twelve years, where he rose from an HR Associate to the Head of HR gaining experience in all facets of the profession.
John earned a Master of Science in Organization Leadership from Norwich University, a Bachelor of Science in History from the United States Naval Academy, and a Certificate of HR Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
