Lynn Waln

Lynn Waln serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the ECHO Institute at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, which is “home base” for Project ECHO, a rapidly growing global movement dedicated to improving the lives of the world’s underserved populations through knowledge-sharing and workforce capacity building, especially in the fields of medicine and education. Lynn is a valued member of the ECHO Institute’s Executive Leadership team and oversees all of ECHO’s human resources, finance, administration, training, organizational development and continuing education for its 100+ personnel. She ensures financial accountability and transparency while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and university standards. She also leads the ECHO Institute’s initiatives in values-based structure, work culture, and operations.

Lynn earned her Bachelors of Accounting Science from the College of Santa Fe and has over 25 years’ experience in financial management and organizational development. Before joining the ECHO Institute in 2014, Lynn served as an Accounting Consultant for UnitedHealth Group, where she helped to start Optum – a new division for the state of New Mexico with revenues of over $240 million per year. She also served as the Controller of Todd Company Public Relations firm and as Accounting Manager for Presbyterian Health Services.

Lynn is passionate about the work she is doing to guide and support the Project ECHO values initiative.  It is important for her to help each and everyone at Project ECHO reach their potential and feel valued.
