Michelle Belhumeur currently serves as the Executive Director at Gorham House, a long-term care community in Maine that offers a full continuum of care for elders. Prior to this position, she worked for over 25 years as a Licensed Social Worker and gained experience in a number of settings including hospitals, home health, rehabilitation, and long-term care. Michelle began working with elders at the age of 15, serving in various roles throughout her high school and college years. Michelle attended Salve Regina University and Rhode Island College, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She obtained her Nursing Home Administrator’s license in 2006. In this role, she has made it a priority to focus on customer service to both her employees and residents since she feels it is the heart and soul of the business. In May 2019, Michelle was awarded Business Person of the Year by the Gorham Business Exchange.
