
Richard N. Hewes is General Counsel to the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board. Before that, he worked for the board’s Advocate Division representing injured workers in contested claims. In private practice, he represented claimants, insurers and their insureds in workers’ compensation and personal injury litigation as well as in other types of civil matters. Mr. Hewes represented Maine’s Department of Human Services when he was an assistant attorney general and he worked in the legal office at the Maine Department of Transportation where he represented the department in contracting, construction claims, freedom of access issues and railroad crossing cases. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Maine and his Juris Doctor degree at Whittier College School of Law.
