Can You Spot All of the Issues?

As a human resources professional you have to expect the unexpected, and be prepared to deal with a variety of challenging employee situations.  In this live, interactive program, you’ll get the chance to test your skills at spotting issues and solving problems, as we analyze a workplace fact-pattern together.  We’ll review employers’ FMLA obligations, the ADA interactive process, how to address suspected abuse of leave policies, and even risks created by romantic relationships between supervisors and subordinates.  Attorneys Peg O’Brien and Adam Hamel from McLane Middleton will be your guides throughout the discussion on potential risk management solutions.

KEYNOTE: Rewrite the Rules

How to Question What You’ve Been Told — and Tap Your Personal Power

Every rule represents a boundary and a belief. You don’t have to like them to follow them. You don’t even have to agree.

To get where you are today, you excelled at following the rules and using them to your advantage. You also had to break some. But the other rules, the unwritten ones, may no longer apply—and could be limiting you in ways you don’t realize. And you can’t change what you don’t see.

In this entertaining and insightful keynote, Terri Trespicio, author of Unfollow Your Passion (whose TEDx talk has almost 8 million views), will show you how shifting your relationship to the rules can change the way you feel about yourself and your work—and why it’s time to rewrite them for yourself.

Some of what we’ll cover:

  • How following the rules has helped but also hurt you
  • Why we stay subscribed to agendas we don’t believe in
  • How to recover and reconnect with your own boundaries and intuition
  • What it means to rewrite the rules
