On this latter point, he’ll talk about the Focus Maine initiative and what WEX and other organizations are doing to assist small to mid-size companies in Maine scale these ideas to size. Jim Link (CHRO of Randstad North America in Atlanta) brings the next generational conversation to the stage. Just when you’ve wrapped your arms around the strengths and development opportunities for Millennials – a quiet buzz about Gen Z has begun. What does this newest crop of young talent, also called the iGens, portend for the workplace? Born at the genesis of the internet age, this globally connected generation witnessed 9/11, a great recession, Sandy Hook, and countless technology advances through their formative years. Sometimes, they are described as the next great hope; at other times, they are described as lost in their iPhones, obsessed with security needs, and more prone to depression. Jim Link takes a more nuanced look at this next generation, and how you should begin thinking about the implications for HR strategic planning and human capital management. He’ll look at the talents Gen Z brings to the table, their values systems, their view of collaboration vs. competition, and how rewards and recognition are implicated. He’ll also discuss some of the specific concerns they may bring to the workplace – student loan debt topping the list. How does HR prepare for this next wave? Jim – we’re all ears.

We’ve all found ourselves chasing after the perfect work/life balance at some point in our lives. Maybe every day. So when our keynote speaker Kip Hollister, CEO of Hollister Staffing and the Hollister Institute in Boston, told us that she had never been more “lit up” in her life, we wanted to know her secret. The answer? There is no such thing as work/life balance; there is only “life”. On Wednesday morning, Kip shares her personal journey at the helm of a business that has not only survived, but flourished through three recessions. But it’s much more than her own path. You’ll engage in some activities during this keynote that will help you learn how to bring your whole, authentic self to work. Discover how this drives productivity, ignites passion, and ultimately creates a culture of purpose in the workplace.
