An Antidote to Employee Relations Nightmares: Using Mediation Skills to Be a Catalyst for Change

Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 @ 10:15 am - 11:45 am

What’s it all about? When you work in human resources, you witness the “human” condition in action every day. So, it’s no surprise that conflicts land on your doorstep – from petty to the most profound. Ria DeMay, principal of Cardinal Employee Relations, offers a roadmap for productive conflict intervention through your development and use of mediation skills. These are skills you can hone for your use and for which you can train your supervisors, but on occasion, the mediation may be most effective coming from outside the four walls of your workplace.

Why you’ll want to participate in this session.

  • On the strategic front, learn how to foster system-wide trust in HR by establishing a credible and reliable reputation for conflict management.
  • On the skills front, be able to distinguish between an instance requiring conflict management and one requiring performance management. Also on the skills front, discover the tools that will help you facilitate a conflict resolution meeting from beginning to end, including action plans and follow-up.
  • Learn how to train front-line managers and leadership in the art of mediation before conflicts escalate to involve HR.
