How to Start Building an Inclusive Workplace
What’s it all about? In Making Maine Work, a report published in 2018 by the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, Maine Development Foundation, and Educate Maine, barriers related to the availability of top talent occurred three separate times as prominent employer challenges. Today’s presenters, Jason Judd, Executive Director of Educate Maine, and Chanel Lewis, Head of Global Diversity & Inclusion for IDEXX, suggest a renewed approach to diversity & inclusion is the key for future prosperity in Maine’s workforce. They will explore and analyze ways HR professionals can begin to hardwire D&I into their organizations’ core functions. Discover the differences between cultural fit versus cultural add, how diverse recruitment cannot succeed without emphasis on inclusive retention, and how implicit bias can be a significant barrier to supporting your diverse talent.
