HR Ethics and Island Values
Why you’ll want to participate in this session. Aloha! On Monday we visited Baltimore, followed by a Wednesday virtual journey to Santa Fe. This morning, we complete our cross-country adventure by traveling as far west as one can imagine – to Hawaii. We’ll be greeted by Bernard Nunies, SPHR, SHRM-SCP (CHRO for Island Holdings, Inc. and President of Hawaii SHRM). We’ll talk a bit about Island life, how the broad mix of cultures in Hawaii plays into workplace and HR strategy, and some universal, ethical dilemmas HR leaders face. Bring your virtual sunscreen along for the journey.
What’s it all about?
- Witness how despite a rich mix of Island cultures, there is still a lot of strategic diversity work to do in Hawaii.
- See how an HR business leader meshes personal ethics with an organization’s values structure.
- Discuss scenarios in which HR is trapped in the middle between fiduciary duties to the organization, moral responsibility to employees, and how HR can navigate these situations with integrity.
- Gain a better understanding of how HR enhances organizational branding and community reputation through ethically-based leadership.
Applying for SHRM Credit and HRCI Business Credit for this session.
