A Holistic, Strategic View of Talent: The Business Case for Shaking Things Up

Friday, May 10th, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

What’s it all about? Organizations seeking to fill talent gaps through short-term, kitchen-sink approaches are missing the larger point. A strategic, long-term roadmap must be the precursor to your recruiting and employee development plans. We have invited John O’Leary and David Sinapi to discuss these issues. They are respectively the Vice President and Director of Talent Acquisition for Lifespan Health Systems, Rhode Island’s largest healthcare organization. They are leading a rigorous process, reassessing and rebuilding the way their organization thinks about finding and developing talent. They will discuss the impetus for their strategic review of the talent equation – Lifespan will make approximately 3,000 external hires this year, and another 1,000 hires/promotions from within. They will weave in how they are building the business case for change, and in the process, they will reference some of the intriguing components of their new talent direction, which includes customer satisfaction surveys and total rewards strategies.

Why you’ll want to participate in this session.

  • Learn about the internal and external challenges that can inhibit your strategic approach to talent, and how you can maneuver around them towards a long-range view.
  • Discover how to design and sell the business plan for a new recruiting process and what your C-suite might want to hear about data and return on investment.
  • And most important, as with any change management process, consider the role of trust and transparency as an important means to a successful conclusion.

Approved for SHRM credit and HRCI Business credit.
