Maine HR Convention: May 10 – 12, 2022

Workshop A: Values-Based Decision Making

Monday, May 10th, 2021 @ 9:45 am - 10:45 am

Why you’ll want to participate in this session. How do you match your organization’s values with HR decision-making processes? That will be the heart of the discussion with two HR leaders from Commonwealth Financial Network in Waltham, Massachusetts – Jane Moyer, SVP, CHRO and Scarlett Abraham Clarke, VP and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer. They will walk you through their experiences balancing their responsibilities to the organization, their employees, customers, and communities. This values-matching can resonate in many ways, implicating hiring decisions, team building, performance management, negotiating with vendors and other parties outside your organization’s four walls, and aligning HR strategic goals with the organization’s strategic goals. We hope you leave this session with a better understanding of HR’s role at the center of your workplace.

What’s it all about?

  • Witness an HR leadership team as they navigate the relationship between corporate culture and values, how they grasp this relationship to inform strategic HR thinking and better alignment with the direction of the organization.
  • See examples of protecting your company’s brand in conjunction with your C-suite and marketing department – when it is wise for leaders to boldly pronounce their values in internal and external messaging and when it is wise to play a more subtle or deft hand (but still stay true to your values and honor your culture).
  • Leave this session with a portfolio of skills for employing values to business and bottomline decisions you’ll make as an HR leader.
